This is my treasure from CJS Sales in New York.    I am lucky I got out with so few bags….man, if only I had had more time.

Even the boxes are cool to look at.  They feature old style handwriting and even smelled old. I know I won't be throwing these beauties away.

Everything about this purchase was special.  The glass gems are individually wrapped!!!

I heard about CJ Sales through a blogger and couldn't wait to get here.  As it happened I was going to be in NY and there was NO WAY I was going to miss going there.  I arrived in NY on Thursday, took the LIRR to Long Island and was back on the train Friday morning.  I got off at Penn Station and am embarrassed to say it took me a little while to find this place (my sense of direction is just about non-existent)  When I finally arrived at the building, took the elevator up to the 2nd floor and stepped out, well all I can say is this is what heaven must feel like - euphoria!   Boxes, boxes and boxes everywhere.  I spent almost 3 hours and could have spent another 3 if I had had time on my side.  Alas, it was a beautiful sunny day outside and I did not want to spend it all inside so I finally had to call it a day.  I promise I will be back...

No to Cigars but Yes to Cigar Boxes

I don't like the fact that my husband smokes cigars, it makes me scared for his health.  The only positive results of his smoking cigars are that I get to keep the cigar boxes.  For those of you know me, know that I tend to 'collect' things because, you know, "I may use it or need it later on".  Consequently I have collected many cigar boxes with the intention of doing something with them.  Well, today is the day.... or yesterday was the day.  I have decided to stop collecting and start doing, and so far I like the result.

So here is to 3 of them finished and 20 more to go.......

Fabric and Fabric....Finally

I love fabric and I love color so how perfect is this fabric that is full of color!!  I originally bought these fabrics after a trip to Hawaii years ago and found a local artist who made beautiful handbags.  Forward 6 years later and I still have fabric leftover.  A while ago a wonderful friend Laurel Poplar gave me fabric sample books and here we are in 2013 and I have finally merged the two together.

It's about time

Okay, so the first step in working towards getting better is admitting one has a problem.  Well, my problem is procrastination.  I have been wanting/needed to get my daf.ne facebook page done and daf.ne website for the past, hmmm, months.  Well, tonight I finally did it.  Although I didn't finish them, they are well on their way.
